In recent years, the popularity of 3C products, and community media (such as Facebook, Line, Twitter, etc.), the physical function of college students affected by these factors, and these changes also indirectly lead to chronic heart and pulmonary diseases. In this study, 42 students of Yuanpei University of Medical Technology were enrolled as experimental subjects; their gender, height, BMI (Body mass index), SMR (Skeletal muscle rate), and BMR (Basal metabolic rate) were recorded. The pulmonary functions’ indices (include vital capacity: VC, forced expiratory volume in one second: FEV1 and forced vital capacity: FVC) of subjects were measured by the Spirometer machine. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS statistical software 22.0. ANOVA and independent samples T test were used to compare the means of two or three different samples. Results showed that there had statistically significant difference between BMI, SMR, BMR and pulmonary function indices. Research data indicated that: (1) BMI lower group (<20), lung function indices VC, FVC and FEV higher than the normal group and the difference between the groups, all the means difference had significant meaning (all p value <0.001); (2) from the analyzed data of pulmonary function and SMR, we found FVC, VC and FEV1, to SMR were showing significant negative correlation, the higher SMR group of students whose pulmonary function indices were lower than other groups; (3) the analysis results in basal metabolic rate and pulmonary function indices showed higher basal metabolic rate groups had better performance on FVC, VC or FEV1.
