本研究的目的是探討國際學生的高/低情境溝通模式與不確定性容忍 度對其在台生活適應的影響。研究採用問卷調查法以203位(#=203)國際學 生為樣本,經由複迴歸分析與皮爾森相關分析驗證研究假設。研究結果顯 示國際學生的高/低情境溝通模式與不確定性容忍度確實可以預測其在台 生活適應的程度。溝通模式越偏向高情境的學生,在台灣的一般生活、工 作與學習,以及人際互動的適應程度就越好。不確定性容忍度越高,在三 個層面的生活適應程度也越好。而且,溝通模式越偏向高情境者,其不確 定性容忍度也越高。研究結果驗證了高/低情境溝通模式與文化差異層面 理論運用在旅居學生生活適應的適用性。

英文摘要

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of high/low context communication and uncertainty avoidance on living adjustment of international students in Taiwan. Self-report questionnaires were used in this study. Purposive and snowballing samplings were chosen to recruit respondents nation-wide in Taiwan. The valid data for this study were provided by 203 international students including 88 males and 115 females. Linear regression analysis was used to testify the hypotheses of this study. The results indicated that international student's high/low context communication and uncertainty avoidance could predict their living adjustment in Taiwan. The higher context of students' communication was, the better their living adjustment in Taiwan. The higher degree of students’ uncertainty avoidance was, the better their living adjustment in Taiwan. The higher context of students’ communication was, the higher degree of students’ uncertainty avoidance. The results had testified the validity of high/low context communication and the dimensions of cultural variation in the context of international students’ living adjustment.
