民俗工藝是民俗文化與傳統工藝的有機結合。臺灣民俗工藝是臺灣民俗文化所涵養的工藝，它除了吸收傳統工藝的技術養分之外，更是為了呈現民俗文化的內涵與意義。臺灣民俗工藝在漢人社會悠久歷史的影響之下，讓許多工藝品項本身積累、承載了豐富的內涵，尤其是工藝品所具有的多元豐富的圖像、紋樣、符號等，也使得這些民俗工藝具有豐厚的文化內容。民俗工藝為了遂行其民俗功能，也逐漸形成其特有的材質、造形、色彩等不同於其他工藝的風格特色，並形成其特有的審美觀點。臺灣民俗工藝在臺灣民俗文化的涵養之下，除了繼承傳統漢人民俗工藝的特質之外，數百年來也逐漸形成了在地化的特色，形塑出獨特的藝術風格與特質。本文從臺灣民俗工藝的社會背景出發，從民俗學的觀點來探討臺灣民俗工藝的類型，並探討臺灣民俗工藝的特質，最後提出臺灣民俗工藝的美學價值，嘗試建構出臺灣民俗工藝的美學圖像。

Folk art is an organic amalgamation of folk culture and traditional art. Taiwanese folk art is a form of arts and crafts cultivated by traditional Taiwanese culture. Aside from drawing much inspiration from traditional arts and crafts techniques, it also serves as an expression of folk culture’s meanings and significance. Under the long-term cultivation by the Han people, Taiwanese folk art has been imbued with rich connotations, especially the dynamic images, patterns, and symbols that enrich the art with rich cultural meanings. Folk art is created for the purpose of carrying out certain cultural functions. Over time, such an art form also takes on a unique identity in terms of material, form, and color, making it distinct from other arts and crafts. As a result, it fosters a unique aesthetic perspective. Cultivated by traditional culture, Taiwanese folk art not only inherited elements from traditional Han Chinese folk art, but also absorbed local characteristics, creating a unique artistic style. From the perspective of social backgrounds and folklore, this paper explores the different forms and unique characteristics of Taiwanese folk art. Finally, it proposes the aesthetic values for Taiwanese folk art in an attempt to construct an aesthetic image for this art form.
