南通瀕江臨海，自古以來就有著豐富的海洋民俗文化資源，其沿海地區的海洋民俗文化既有中國海洋民俗文化共有的特質，也有著特定區域的文化內涵。南通海洋民俗文化包括海洋生產習俗、海洋生活習俗和海洋信仰習俗。隨著現代化進程的加快，生活方式的改變，南通海洋民俗文化面臨傳承困境。因此，南通海洋民俗文化的傳承與保護任重道遠。南通市政府應加大對海洋民俗文化的保護力度，實施海洋民俗文化遺產的搶救工程；應加強南通海洋民俗文化教育，通過多種方式普及全民海洋民俗知識；應利用先進技術傳承南通海洋民俗文化，突破時空局限，擴大傳播途徑；應堅持南通海洋民俗文化創新，在傳承的基礎上把創新的形式納入傳統，從而促進海洋民俗文化與經濟社會的有效融合。

Nantong City faces the Yellow Sea on the east and the Changjiang River on the south. There have been so many resources of marine folk culture since ancient times. The marine culture in coastal areas not only has the common traits of Chinese marine folk culture but also has the connotation belonging to the specific area. Marine productive custom, marine living custom and marine religious custom are the main form of marine folk culture of Nantong city. However, the marine folk culture of Nantong city is faced with the inheritance dilemma with the accelerated modernization and lifestyle. Thus, firstly, Nantong city government should strengthen the protection of the marine folk culture and rescue the cultural heritage. Secondly, the government should strengthen the marine folk cultural education to popularize the folk cultural knowledge through various forms. Thirdly, the government should pay attention to the use of advanced technology to inherit the marine folk culture so as to conquer time and space and broaden the distribution. Fourthly, the government should adhere to innovation in the marine folk culture and integrate innovation into tradition so as to promote the effective integration of marine folk culture and economy of the society.
