本研究是以一所台灣的原住民國民小學為對象,探討它在經 歷巨大的颱風災難後,如何能夠浴火重生的原因。研究問題是: 這所排灣族小學如何在風雨飄搖之中,由一位原住民新手校長帶 領,走出困境,蜕變為一所優質的學校? 研究方法以人類學的民族誌為主,也就是以「參與觀察」及 「深度訪談」來從事田野工作。研究概念特別著重在促使辦學成 功之元素,包括學校領導能力、堅強的學校與社區凝聚力、教職 員專業能力、以學生為中心的學習氛圍、以及統整的教學方案。 研究結果發現,學校領導者的堅毅特質及其與教師、社區所 建立的信賴關係,是學校成功的重要因素。

英文摘要

This study examined a reform taking place in a Taiwanese aboriginal elementary school after experiencing huge typhoon disaster. The research methods used are "participant observation" and "depth interviews." The conceptual framework emphasize school leadership, a strong cohesion between school and community, teachers and staff expertise, student-centered learning environment, and the holistic system of curriculum programs. The major research question is: how and why this aboriginal elementary school led by a novice indigenous principal, could transform from ruin to success? The results show that the common goals and beliefs established between teachers and community, the school leader^ qualities of perseverance, and strong bonding help everybody work together are the major factors for school success.
