For infrared images, the performance of texture details in the target scene is not good, and for visible images, the performance is constrained by illumination and environment. In this paper, an image fusion method based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is proposed. First, the infrared and visible images are decomposed by DWT, the low frequency and high frequency components will be obtained. For the low frequency component, the fusion method is based on the regional energy. For the high frequency components, the fusion method is based on the weighted sum of the difference between the neighboring coefficients. Finally, the fusion image is obtained by the inverse DWT. The results prove that, compared with the similar research methods, the performance of the proposed method is better.
