若要理解當代台灣自然書寫的發展,劉克襄可說是絕對不能被遺漏的一個名字。他不只是台灣自然書寫的前行者,多年來更創作不輟,不斷求新求變。在其多元的創作中,「動物小說」是一個相當值得注意的類別,從1991-2008年,劉克襄共出版了四本動物小說:《風鳥皮諾查》、《座頭鯨赫連麼麼》、《野狗之丘》和《永遠的信天翁》,本文將探討這四本作品中敘事觀點之轉移、「動物」與「人物」互動關係之轉變,以及觀看動物的方式。藉此了解劉克襄動物小說的寫作特色與創作觀,並進一步思考人類是如何形塑對動物的想像,這樣的觀看角度又如何影響了我們對待動物與自然的態度。

英文摘要

Liu Ka-shiang is definitely the one you need to know if you want to understand the current development of nature writings in Taiwan. Not simply a pioneer, he writes continuously throughout all these years, seeking innovation and change. Among his various works, “animal fiction” is a category that is noteworthy. From 1991 to 2008, Liu published four animal fictions, including A Story of a Wind Bird (1991), A Story of a Humpback Whale (1993), Hill of Stray Dogs (2007) and The Albatross Forever (2008). This paper will discuss how Liu modifies his narrative point of view throughout these fictions and how his understanding of the interaction between animal and human being has been changed. By doing so, we will be able to grasp the characteristics of his animal fictions as well as his view on creative writing. Furthermore, an investigation of Liu’s animal fictions may help us think about how people build up their imagination towards animals and how different viewpoints affect people’s way of treating animals and their attitude towards nature.
