有清一代，臺灣的官紳庶民藉由傳統雕版印刷術的紙性傳媒，融入科舉 文風、政治教化、社會教育、宗教信仰各面向，風行草佳，深植人心，獲得 極佳的成績， I 出版」事功實不可沒。惟因颺風、洪滯、地震等天災侵擾無間， 加上祝融兵焚層出，人為無心或蓄意的破壞不斷，對於當時出版的紙、木質 文物而言，保存環境嚴苛險峻，頗不理想、，也造成木刻雕版與印刷紙品幾乎 涅滅殆盡，目前很難採取全面性的觀照。 筆者鎖定比一命題，爬梳個人寓目所及相關臺灣的方志史料、鄉野掠、聞、 藝文故實，整筋清代官方及私家得藏書狀況，希冀填充清代出版史的另一筆 補白。

During the Ch’ing Dynasty, important changes in printing occurred in Taiwan society. By using traditional block printing techniques, publications boomed in many aspects of society, such as in the fields of official examinations, political pamphelets, educational publications, as well as religious teachings. However, only a few of the published works survived due to such natural disasters as floods, typhoons and earthquakes. Calamities caused by human beings such as wars and arsons also did much damage to the printed works. In addition, the poor quality of printing material was one of the causes that affect the life of publications as well. Poring over the government documents such as local history, private book collections, and other sources, the author hopes to unearth new facts of publication in Ch’ing Taiwan, so as to fill out the missing chapter in the development of printing in the Ch’ing Dynasty.
