英文摘要

Using three metaphor scopes (orientational, ontological and structural) from Gorge Lakoff and Mark Johnson's Metaphors We Live By, this article examines Li Aug's The Butcher's Wife (李昂,《殺夫》)and American novelist Susan Glaspell's "A Jury of Here Peers," and draws a conclusion that home is a field where man's violence prevails. The orientational metaphor contains a man's sexual ability, economic ability and power, which form a historical basis of male hegemony that has come to dominate in power and gender politics. The fictional work with killing-husband theme not only criticizes society acutely, but also awakens female readers through a presentation of the heroine's shocking behavior of killing husband. However, the theme of "killing-husband" also implies the invalidity of ending family conflicts by "killing.n By using orientational, ontological and structural metaphors, this article focuses on the metaphor "marriage is female's disaster under the patriarchy system." Novels by female writers show a context of combining "body, ontology and text." This paper uses the metaphorical world of killing husband as a point of departure and goes on to discusses the source of Chinese and Western male culture of "dominating power." This line of investigation will be significant for the analysis and deconstruction of the ideology of "patriarchy" and "man dominating woman."
