自古以來軍隊被視為一個男性組織，女性身處其中面臨許多挑戰和心理壓力，她們在軍中較 不易受到的認同且升遷條件亦有諸多限制，這些困境受到媒體影像再現後不符合現實的情節，加 深社會對女性軍人的刻板印象。本研究分析好萊塢電影如何建構女性軍人形象，及她們在過去三 十年中角色的變遷。文中以內容分析和敘事分析兩種研究方法。透過分析電影後發現：第一，好 萊塢產製仍受制於性別偏見，電影中仍存在以男性窺視的方式支配傳統好萊塢中的女性，將其視 為單獨的個體而非軍隊中的成員。第二，本研究針對國家安全、社會結構及文化層面等三個面向， 發現女性角色受到好萊塢影視中社會文化價值觀所限制，但這樣的現象在波斯灣戰爭和911 恐怖 攻擊後已有改變。第三，因美國國防部與好萊塢之間維持緊密的關係，好萊塢透過軍隊管道取得 軍事裝備、拍攝場地和軍方人力支援；然而美軍可審查好萊塢電影劇本，並提供劇組拍攝的建議， 藉此在電影中展現軍隊的正面形象。

Traditionally, the military has been defined as a masculine unit; those of females who want to become part of it will face many challenges and psychological pressure such as less chance for promotion, being a mocking object in the movies and being ignored by others. This study is going to explore how Hollywood military movies shape the female’s image and transform the female’s role in the past three decades using approaches of both content and narrative analysis. The results from 10 movies show that first, Hollywood filmmakers still have deep sex bias about males dominating the female through the way of male gaze in the movies and separating females from military as an individual. Secondly, from the spheres of national security, social structure and culture influence, the stereotype of the female role shaped by Hollywood consists of the constraints of social and cultural value, but the situation is changing since the Gulf War and the 911 terrorist attack. Thirdly, Hollywood needs to maintain good relationship with Pentagon to get support of military equipment, facilities and personnel for the purpose of making movies.
