This study explored how the integrated curriculum of humanities and anatomy through the silent mentor (namely, the cadavers of voluntary donors) program can inspire positive emotions in health care students at a Buddhist technology college. Guided by the gratitude construct as a motivator of prosocial behavior, the researchers focused on the reflections of college students during 2007 and 2011, and on the positive effects of their silent mentors. Other data sources included in-class observations and interviews with anatomy instructors and students for triangulation. The findings revealed three themes--connecting, awakening, and benefitting-for developing a Buddhist model of gratitude education.
