This study aimed to explore the formation of lifestyles of health and sustainability (LOHAS) intention from the perspective of recreationistenvironment fit and place attachment. An on-site questionnaire was administered to visitors at Guandu Nature Park, Alishan National Scenic Area, Tainan Qigu and Beimen Wetlands, and Kenting National Forest Recreation Area. The results revealed that recreationist-environment fit has impact on place attachment, and both recreationist-environment fit and place attachment influence the formation of LOHAS intention. The findings suggest that LOHAS intention of recreationists is developed mainly because of the interactive relationship between recreationists and the recreational environment. When individuals’ fit with the environment grows into an emotional attachment, they will be inspired to pursue physical and mental health, and to protect the recreation environment and stress sustainable development. The study provides references for tourism destination management in designing recreational activities.
