1994年春天,在林業試驗所蓮華池研究中心的林地上,我們首次發現地生炭角菌的蹤跡。之後,每年春天地生炭 角菌皆於該處出現。地生炭角菌僅產生無性世代,至今尚未發現其有性世代。分子親緣關係研究顯示,地生炭角 菌之近親為生長於白犠巢的炭角菌種類。然而,經過多次的努力挖掘,我們始終沒有找到地生炭角菌連結到白犠 巢、或是土壌以外之其它生長基質的證據。
Xylaria terricola has been collected from Lien-hua-chih Research Center of Taiwan Forestry Research Institute in spring every year since 1994. It produces only an anamorph on ground without a teleomorph developed. Phylogenetic analyses based on combined sequences of rpb2, β-tub and α-act indicated that X. terricola has a close affinity with the Xylaria species associated with termite nests. However, we did not find evidence indicating that X. terricola is associated with termite nests or other types of substrates other than soil despite that numerous excavations had been conducted by carefully tracing the rooting base downwards.
