面對眾多的利瑪竇研究文獻以及他在各方面所做貢獻的定評，有關他媒介中西方哲學的會遇與認知，卻顯得較少有人做深入的關注和探討。作為天主教的傳教士，以士林哲學為正統的基督教哲學，當然是他所熟悉的哲學認知，但在會遇到陌生的中國「哲學」傳統時，他是怎樣理解這陌生的哲學呢？以及他如何讓這些陌生人理解他所要傳揚的、對中國人來講陌生的基督教哲學乃至神學呢？對此作者嘗試就利瑪竇自身的著作，從其教育背景及著重提出的論題來考察他在論述上的視野，同時也嘗試透過一種基於對陌生做回應的反思行動，或說是一種「陌生解釋學」，來對利瑪竇在媒介中西哲學上的貢獻做一些綱領性的探討。

This paper aims at revisiting Matteo Ricci’s contribution to the philosophical encounter between Europe and China by means of a Xeno-Hermeneutics, a method of consideration reflecting upon the encounter of two different traditions of philosophy. The author tries to review Ricci’s educational background, the official plan for Jesuit education, Ratio Studiorum, and the major themes presented in his Chinese works, and see how did he understand the Chinese “philosophy,” a foreign tradition, when he first encountered it, and in what way he directed the Chinese to understand the foreign Catholic philosophy and theology.
