聖嚴法師乃臺灣佛教法鼓山創辦人,亦是禪宗曹洞宗第五十代傳人、臨濟宗第五十七代傳人。他不僅是當代佛學大師,也是一位得道高僧。他在禪修方面,鑿力甚深;而其著作《戒律學綱要》已成國內外著名的戒律學教材。聖嚴法師以其深厚的戒律涵養與禪修靜定的心性工夫,驗證生命圓融的自在智慧;並以漢傳佛教為基本立場,開展出「中華禪法鼓宗」,提倡心靈、禮儀、生活、自然等四種心靈環保,將佛法的精神與內涵轉化為具體可行的「心五四運動」,並落實「提昇人的品質,建設人間淨土」的理念。法師於諸多弘法場合、書法聯展或著作中,多留有其書寫的智慧金句,或經文偈語之墨蹟。聖嚴法師言其乃用「心」書寫,而毛筆即其心,心定則心清明,並將此觀點體現於書法創作中,經由翰墨,闡發為心靈要義之禪宗精神。為籌募興辦法鼓大學的經費,聖嚴法師自二○○六年至二○○七年致力於書法創作,並舉辦多場書法展,作品集結成《遊心禪悅—聖嚴法師法語.墨緣.興學墨迹全輯》。而「法鼓山文教基金會」蒐集聖嚴法師其他書作,另外彙編了《遊心禪悅—聖嚴法師法語.墨緣.興學墨迹 選》、《遊心禪悅—法鼓山珍藏聖嚴法師墨迹》與《遊心 禪悅—聖嚴法師法語.墨緣.悲願墨迹選 貳》。本文即以 《遊心禪悅》系列叢書為探討對象,從視覺效果角度研析其 書法形態所呈具三度立體空間之美感,並從書法美學理論研 析聖嚴法師書學觀,與楷書、行書的表現樣貌、內容,及所 涵融之意蘊。 本文除了呈具聖嚴法師書法藝術美感之外,並由此窺見 法師以書法弘揚佛法,推展人間淨土之懇切用心。

英文摘要

Master Sheng Yen (1930-2009) is the founder of Taiwan Buddhist Dharma Drum Mountain, and at the same time he is a master of Zen Soto sect 50th and Rinzai 57th generation descendant. He was both a great master of Buddhist doctrine and Buddhist practice, and achieved distinction in meditation. His work Commandments Outline has become the pattern. Master Sheng Yen has good self-restraint and self-cultivation, so his life is unrestrained and bright. He uses his Zen laws into the ecolifestyle intelligent, and thus exchanges into spirit, ceremonies, life and nature. He advocated “The Fivefold Spiritual Renaissance Campaign,” then in order to build a “Pure Land on Earth.” In many places, Master Sheng Yen kept his creative works on calligraphy. About calligraphy works, Master Sheng Yen uses his “mind” to write them. He says: the brush is his mind, when his mind is fixed, his mind is bright. This realm is from Master Sheng Yen’s Buddhist Zen practice. He also reflects this view on his calligraphic creation, and by calligraphy ink he elucidates the Zen teachings and spirits. From 2006 to 2007, Master Sheng Yen was devoted on calligraphic creation, and hold many exhibitions. Most of his works were collected on one book, named The Tour Heart Chan Delight: Language/ Ink feeling/ Schooling Calligraphic Selected-Works (called for short The Tour Heart Chan Delight). Therefore, this research paper is studying on Master Sheng Yen’s series work The Tour Heart Chan Delight, from the theory of calligraphy aesthetics, to analyze his calligraphic view, also the content and form of his regular script and semi-cursive script, and the internal meanings. This research paper will explore the calligraphy achievement and influence of Master Sheng Yen. It appears not only Master Sheng Yen’s calligraphy art aesthetic, but also his attentiveness of preaching Dharma by calligraphy and building a “Pure Land on Earth.”
