One topic of Jewish environmental philosophy is the relationship of people and land. The contemporary reflection of this relationship in the context of ecological crisis includes two aspects: sustainable development and environmental justice. In order to characterize a kind of Jewish environmental ethics in a post-Holocaust age, this article attempts to develop some analogical connection between genocide and ecocide, and points out that “symbiosis” is an important quality of eco-Judaism. Finally it is proposed that the two concepts of “Bal Tashchit” and “Tikkun Olam” may be core norms of an environment-friendly Judaism.
