本文針對中國哲學史這門學科所必備的通史專書之寫作發展進行探討，首 先從日本東洋學的角度，從這類書籍在日本的發端開始，介紹日本在1916 年 以前的相關表現，接著觀察清末民初，中國透過日本接觸到「中國哲學」及「中 國哲學史」概念的情形，從1916 年出現的第一本由謝无量撰寫的《中國哲學 史》開始，依序就胡適、馮友蘭、勞思光等具有典範性意義的中國哲學史通史 專書寫作的成果進行析論，探討其中得失。最後，本文試圖回答「重寫哲學史」 的問題，思考未來的中國哲學通史寫作可以有哪些發展。筆者認為，今後可以 重視不斷發展的其他斷代或主題式的研究成果，與思想史研究者密切合作，同 時在保持中國哲學特性、進行同情理解的前提下，將跨文化對話納入寫作企圖 中，以開顯出當代意義。

With this article, I explore the development of the general history books of Chinese philosophy in Japan before 1916 and in Chinese academia after 1916. First, from the perspective of Japanese Oriental studies, I introduce these writings from their appearance in Japan to 1916. Second, I observe China’s access through Japan to the concepts of “Chinese philosophy” and “Chinese philosophy history.” I then analyze and evaluate the features of the important works written by Hsieh Wu-Liang, Hu Shih, Feng You-Lan, and Lao Sze-Kwang. Third, I contemplate on writing directions of general history of Chinese philosophy in the future. I point out that writers can attach importance to dynastic or thematic results of Chinese thought research. They can cooperate with the researchers and engage in crossculture dialogue with other philosophers so as to keep the subjectivity of Chinese philosophy and create contemporary meanings.
