Purposes:It aims to investigate the explicit approaches and achievement made by outpatient department for facilitation of the baby-friendly hospital and breastfeeding-friendly environment. Methods:A descriptive method was used to illustrate the explicit approaches for facilitation of the baby-friendly hospital and breastfeeding-friendly environment; meanwhile, a satisfaction survey was conducted to understand the general satisfaction with service quality. Results:The health education and guidance achieved a satisfaction rating of 100% for group-care evaluation for“improving ability for autonomous care”and“education methods”. Surveys completed by members of the public, who support breastfeeding, indicated a 100% acknowledgment rating for“1. Makes you feel supported”,“3. Group leader was sympathetic and understanding of your feelings”, and“6. The topics explored were very practical”. These results suggest that a breastfeeding support group can provide useful information for the participants. Public surveys investigations determined that overall satisfaction increased from 94.8% in 2013 to 95.7% in 2014, with“ attitude of care”(100%) receiving the highest mark. Mothers who purely breast-fed while in hospital care increased to 41.9% in July of 2015 from 34.9% in 2014 (7.0% increase). Conclusions:Baby-friendly and breastfeeding-friendly environment is an imperative issue, as building a comfortable, supportive and safe environment may prolong the period of breastfeeding. Furthermore, continuous follow-up and improvement based on satisfaction survey may also enhance service quality of the hospital as well as female patients’ satisfaction with medical consultation.
