本研究探討台灣不同型態的小型汽車車牌設計對記憶的影響。實驗一包含八種由數字與字母構成的新式車牌型態，參與者須依序回憶出該只出現兩秒的車牌號碼，依照參與者記憶車牌時口中是否需唸出指定內容，分為發音抑制（需重複念出聲音以干擾使用口語覆誦幫助記憶）與無發音抑制情境，結果發現不同車牌設計之記憶表現在咬音抑制情境中出現明顯差異。實驗二與實驗三分別加入顏色一致性與空格位置於車牌中，以釐清此兩種訊息如何影響車牌項目的分群組塊，實驗四探討何種方式可幫助記憶項目較多的車牌。結果發現較多項目的車牌以及數字字母交替出現的車牌型態，都會降低記憶的正確性，若透過提供訊息幫助車牌項目做分群組塊，可協助車牌之回憶表現。

The study explored the memory recall of plates of ordinary light vehicles used in Taiwan. In Experiment 1, participants had to serially recall the 8 patterns of light vehicle plates after each presentation with and without oral articulatory suppression. The results reveal that a different recall of a plate is exhibited only in the articulatory suppression condition. Memory recall is best in the form of 1234-AB. Experiment 2 and Experiment 3 manipulated color consistency and the position of the space within the plate items to explore how color and spatial separation cues each impact the grouping of the vehicle patterns. Experiment 4 investigated whether grouping facilitated the recall of 7-item codes. Our findings indicate that the number of items in the codes and the alternation patterns impact recall of the plates. Furthermore, providing grouping features can benefit the recall of plates.
