本論文試圖從基督宗教「聖母」瑪莉嫣（Maryam）的「宗教神聖性」現象來比較伊斯蘭什葉派對先知穆罕默德女兒法蒂瑪（Fatimah）成聖性之形成，以此嘗試分析基督宗教與伊斯蘭之間，女性成聖性對婦女宗教性的束縛與解放之現象。就比較宗教研究途徑，本論文以亞伯拉罕宗教一神信仰共同根源的「立約」主題，來比較「聖母」瑪莉嫣及「聖女」法蒂瑪的「成聖性應許」所構成的宗教意義與歧異。此外，本論文亦就基督宗教「聖母」瑪莉嫣深受伊斯蘭《古蘭經》神之啟示的強化，以及她在穆斯林傳統中的「聖人」地位，來省思基督宗教對伊斯蘭什葉派「聖女」法蒂瑪的宗教態度。

The aim of this research is to explore the female holiness in the monotheism by comparing Maryam and Fatima, the former was mother of Jesus, while the later daughter of the Islamic prophet, who has been venerated by most Shi’ite Muslims. This essay shall provide an in depth discourse on how and why both Maryam and Fatima’s holy images were created through the course of time in order to draw a clear picture of this phenomenon. The study will also explore both Islamic and Christian scriptures to elaborate the issue of female holiness in order to prove that woman status is not generally regarded as inferior by common people. Besides, this essay will bring out the different connotation of sanctification in Islam and Christianity.
