This paper discusses how Wang Anshi and Chen Yi used applied metaphysical concepts from the Yijing in applications regarding the actual practice of rulership, clarifying the differences between the two authors. The paper has four parts: 1) outlinines how Wang and Chen used the study of kingship, 2) discusses how the way of Heaven within the Yi scholarship of Wang and Chen was not the principle of the Yi, 3) investigates how details for the natural Way of Heaven are clarified by Wang and Chen, and 4) presents Wang and Chen’s different explanations for the way of changes.
