士林哲學在歐洲自19世紀中葉取得了卓有成果的復興,是為新士林哲學運動。在臺灣,經過了幾代學者的努力,很大程度上亦可謂滙入了此一亞里斯多德—多瑪斯學派的思想巨流。這些士林哲學家及其思想主要以中文為載體、中華文化為底基,並調和理性與信仰,進一步形成獨到的中華(或臺灣)新士林哲學。而究其內涵,歷史性之研究有之;傳統體系的重構有之;對當代的人物專題探討亦有之,萬芳齊放。然而,本研究則傾向將焦點置於另一重要且影響重大之進路,即超驗多瑪斯的進路。此一學派結合多瑪斯的知識論與以康德為核心的超驗方法,開展出足以與當代哲學對話與互補的超驗多瑪斯學派(在新士林哲學的架構下),在新世紀的華人世界亦可能產生遠為深刻的體系建構及影響,為深值研究之課題。本文以論證此一學派的學說與精神為內核、比較不同觀點,並綜合而證成其理論與體系之合理性,本文以臺灣學者袁廷棟為例,探討超驗進路在臺灣士林哲學界的融攝。

英文摘要

Scholastic philosophy had a renaissance in the 19th century, the so-called Neo-scholasticism. In Taiwan, with generations of efforts, philosophical scholars have been integrated into this trend of reviewing and reviving the thoughts from Aristotle to Thomas Aquinas. With Chinese as their carrier and Chinese culture as their foundation, these philosophers reconcile scholasticism with reason and faith, making a step further and form the unique Chinese (or Taiwanese) Neo-scholasticism. As for its diverse contents, there are historical studies, reconstructions of traditional frameworks, thematic inquiries into contemporary figures and so on. However, this article focuses on another influential neo-scholastic approach, that is, the transcendental Thomistic approach. Combined with Aquinas’s epistemology and the Kantian transcendental approach, the transcendental Thomism is developed to dialogue with and complement contemporary philosophy (under the framework of Neo-scholasticism). It will probably construct strong frameworks and make profound impact on the Chinese community nowadays, and therefore is worthy of serious studies. This article is focused on the doctrine and spirit of the transcendental Thomism, compares various perspectives, makes a synthetic analysis and justifies the rationality of its theories and system. With Yuan Ting-Dong as our example, we inquire how this transcendental approach is integrated into the Taiwan Scholastic circle.
