建構與思考中華士林哲學的前景,是沈清松一生思想的核心議題之一。他認為當代中華士林哲學開端於晚明西方傳教士來華與中華文化相遇之際,既承襲西方中世紀以來存有學體系的思維,更受益於中華文化,尤其儒家思想,對人生命意義與道德實踐的關懷,以及道家利生的宇宙∕自然觀。對他而言,中華士林哲學的未來發展,不僅是理性思維的認知體系的建構問題,更在於以經驗作為可指向終極真實之存有的完成行動力的實踐。慷慨外推與多元他者,是沈清松作為當代中華士林哲學研究者,在朝向綿延不絕之意義所臨現之存在與具有多元文化性質的經驗主體的終極張力間,針對中西思想跨文化界域交談的可能性,所提出的理論與實踐之途。本文簡要摘述清松先生作為中華新士林哲學研究者和思維者,所提出的慷慨外推、多元他者、形成中的自我等核心概念的思想內涵,作為尋索隱匿在他已出版和未出版的文字間的思維的蹤跡。
Constructing and thinking the new visions of Chinese scholasticism is one of core issues Vincent Shen has concerned the most in his thought. Vincent Shen has assumed that it is in the period of late Ming, when European missionaries came to China, encountered with classical Chinese thought and culture, the philosophy of Chinese scholasticism started to emerge; having inherited the ontological thinking from Western medieval philosophy, Chinese scholasticism has been benefited as well from the Chinese philosophy of life, moral theory and practice of classical Confucianism and the cosmology of Daoism. Shen claims that the new visions of contemporary Chinese scholasticism consist not only in the epistemological construction of science, but also the experience as the practice of fulfilling being toward the Ultimate Reality. This article attempts to underscore the main themes Vincent Shen has significantly contributed to Chinese scholasticism, through reading the core concepts, generous stangification, many others/ multiple others, and self-in-the-making, found in his published and unpublished works, and to trace the thoughts lying dormant in his writings.
