This is a thematic study on Zhu Xi’s and Dai Zhen’s distinctions between heavenly principles and human desires. We state their respective opinions before making comparisons between Zhu and Dai, pointing out what they have in common, what Dai misunderstood about Zhu and his own naturalistic errors.
