也斯是香港重要的作家、文化評論家。過去,研究者已提出也斯獨特的跨文化視野,但較少考慮這種視野如何為他的文學創作所生產。也斯先後於1977 及1983 年發表名作《剪紙》和《煩惱娃娃的旅程》。兩個作品原為報紙上的連載小說,在重寫後再度出版,後者更名為《記憶的城市.虛構的城市》。在也斯寫作各個版本期間,中國和香港的政治關係時張時弛,本土與中國文化反覆碰擊、磨合。本文通過比較上述作品的不同版本,揭示出版機制、個人及時空條件如何相互作用,促成各個版本的生產。本文亦會提出這些作品回應1970 年代以降香港本地、國家與世界現代化進程的方式。論文將從歷時的角度,追踪也斯對本土與中國文化關係看法的持續變化,發展他的跨文化省思之歷程。

英文摘要

Ya Si (1949-2013) is an important writer and cultural critic of Hong Kong. His unique intercultural perspective has been well presented, but the development of such a perspective within his works is often overlooked. Ya Si wrote his famous Paper-Cut and The Journey of Worry Dolls in 1977 and 1981 respectively. Both were originally novel series in newspapers and were rewritten and republished, while the latter one is renamed as Cities of Memory, Cities of Fabrication. During the revision, the political relationship of China and Hong Kong keep falling into tension or relaxation, while the local and Chinese cultures struck and fused together. By comparing different versions, this paper reveals how they act as coordinated outcomes of publishing mechanisms, personal and historical conditions, and how they responded to the local, national and world modernization since the late 1970s. It further traces Ya Si’s renewal of views on the relationship between the local and Chinese culture, and the development of his intercultural perspective.
