尖斑虎甲蟲 (Cylindera (Cylindera) triangulata, sp. nov.) 廣分布於台灣南部的恒春半島， 成蟲的斑紋和外觀與其近緣種橫斑虎甲蟲 (Cylindera (Cylindera) cylindriformis( Horn, 1912 ) ) 相當類似， 以致在過去本新種易被誤認。透過橫斑虎甲蟲總模標本(syntype)的比對，確認橫斑虎甲蟲族群僅分布於恒春半島南端很小區域內。兩種虎甲蟲的形態特徵經繪圖及測量後已能被正確地辨識。尖斑虎甲蟲與橫斑虎甲蟲成蟲出現的時間及發生的棲地範圍雖然很相似， 但分布的海拔高度有相當的差異。尖斑虎甲蟲成蟲出現於4至7月，廣分布於海拔相對較高的地區，大多在透光的陡坡上活動，但緩坡或半遮蔽的步道也有發現。橫斑虎甲蟲成蟲出現於5至7月，分布於相對侷限的極低海拔區域，常在道路的邊坡或斜坡活動，半遮蔽的小徑上較少發現。

Cylindera (Cylindera) triangulata, sp. nov., is widely spread over the Hengchun Peninsula, southern Taiwan. It shares similar elytral maculation and overall body appearance with Cylindera cylindriformis (Horn, 1912) resulting in the overlook of this new species for a long time. Illustrations and measurements of obvious morphological characters are presented herein to allow correct identification of each species. Temporal occurrence of adult activity and habitat of both species are similar, but each species has a non-overlapping altitudinal distribution. C. triangulata is active from April to July, while C. cylindriformis from May to July. Both species are found mostly on open road cuts or slopes and infrequently along semi-shaded paths. True C. cylindriformis has a restricted distribution limited to the southernmost Taiwan at very low altitudes compared to the much more widespread C. triangulata found at higher altitudes.
