本文旨在考察《詩經》中車、馬意象所傳達的文學與文化義涵。考察方法主要透過歸納詩句、互文比對及參照前人訓詁等，以析繹車、馬名物及品類如何經由文字意象化後進入詩意組構，並因而具備特定的意指功能，成為詩之創作與意義傳播的重要元素。本文認為，《詩》中凡言及車、馬之套語或名物者，多與「貴族」之事相關，諸如「婚戀」、「田獵」，乃至戰爭行役等，往往用以強化詩中的思念及傾慕之情。

This study investigates the literary and cultural meanings of the images of horses and carriages in The Book of Songs. It summarizes the formulas, intertextual comparison, and past scholars’ glosses to analyze and interpret how objects and categories of horses and carriages were transformed into poetic structures through textual imagery and endowed “themed” functions, thus becoming the important factors affecting the creation of poetry and conveyance of meanings. This study suggests that the formulas or objects mentioned in The Book of Songs were mainly associated with three motifs: “marriage”, “battle-attending”, and “atheling”. Consequently, horses and carriages appeared in The Book of Songs can be used to express affections of “missing someone” and “adoration”, not merely representing the meanings of original objects.
