It is definitely a paradigm shift from batch reactions to continuous manufacturing with microreactors in chemical industries which is also a strategic revolution in industry 4.0. The shift is driven by intrinsic safety advantages, cost reduction and continuous quality improvement. Through the introduction of micro-reactors, especially the breakthrough in photo-reactions, as well as the applications in different chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the transformation to continuous manufacturing by microreactors would be expected in the foreseeable future.
