This article probes into the evolution of West and non-West relations within IR scholarship along with the examination of emerging IR research agendas in the post-Western era. It argues that the non-West has gradually become the established knowledge co-productor with its deeper and broader engagement in the global IR communities instead of being the laboratories for testing given IR theories as well as the receivers of Western IR scholarship. The critical and comparative niches of the non-West have enriched and expanded the contents of emerging IR research making the research of comparative IR thought a feasible and productive orientation. By reinscribing the co-constitution of the West and the non-West, it is not only possible to overcome the epistemic binary, but also to reimagine IR by changing referent in a relational perspective.
