擅長在小說中納入歷史話語的新加坡華文作家謝裕民(1959-)在二十一世紀初生產了數部值得關注的小說。出生於戰後的他寫下許多膾炙人口的作品,引起許多讀者高度關注。其中,《重構南洋圖像》(2005)、《甲申說明書:崇禎皇帝和他身邊的人》(2012)、《放逐與追逐》(2015),與《建國》(2018)四部小說在寫作主題上都以歷史思維出發。然而,四部書卻呈現出風格迥異的歷史多元性書寫,此現象在新華文壇仍屬少數。本文欲透過這些小說探討謝裕民歷史寫作中的多元性,進而觀察其小說裡「個體」與「歷史」之間的思考。從書寫模式而論,謝裕民也在作品中以實驗性的寫作方式開展了新華文學的寫作屬性,以多元模式書寫歷史化小說豐富了新華文學的內涵。從文學內部思考的層面而論,謝裕民將歷史與個體的關係細作剖析,以實驗性的寫作關懷歷史論述與個體自主意識。
As a Singapore Chinese Writer who is incorporating historical and cultural discourses in his novels, Chia Joo Ming (1959-) wrote historical novels in the 21st century that gained interests from readers worldwide, namely Reconstructing Chinese Images (2005), 1644: The Year A Dynasty Was Hanged (2012) and Exile or Pursuit (2015) and Kian Kok (2018). The article will focus on the novels and analyse the experimentalisms in Chia’s historical writing. The works are written with specific historical backgrounds, with also focuses on the historical narrations and their suitability in Singapore Chinese literature. In other words, Chia’s attempt in the novels showed experimental approach in writing that extended the dimensions in Singapore Chinese Literature, while also displaying the thoughts on the relations between individuals and history.
