國立成功大學前身原為日治時期的臺灣總督府臺南高等工業學校(以下簡稱「臺南高等工業學校」),為了解創校初期科館建築空間配置,有必要對當時的課程規劃作一番考察。雖然既有研究嘗從當時的課程規劃著手,但多敷研究僅止於課程名稱上的討論,未必可掌握實質的授課内容。如「修身」一門,到底是什麼樣的課程,似乎無法直接從課程名稱理解。一方面,已知臺南高工創校時,廣島及金澤兩高工為臺灣總督府文教局長石黑英彦及創校委員長今景彦等創校主事者曾參訪的學校。本研究因此以臺南高工創校初期之課表,對照1929年廣島、金澤兩高工登载課表,討論同時期三校開課内容之異同。從中發現臺南高工創校初期之機械、電氣工學兩科,課程架構幾乎與廣島高工相同。加上廣島高工相關文獻提供相對清楚的科目内容説明,可作為本研究推測臺南高工實質授課内容之參考。本研究也比較1929年由高工升格為大學的東京工業大學之課程規劃,討論專門學制工程教育規劃與大學間之差異。透過本研究,可較既有研究更清楚理解臺南高工課程結構,從而對應各科館建築各科目上課空間。一方面,藉由比對所知臺南高工特色課程,如「冷凍機」、「糖業化學」等,可理解開課目的與臺南高工建校目的相符,為因應臺灣工業界需求培養特殊工業人才。但相對於大學教育更重視培養學生獨立研究與設計之能力,專門學校層級的臺南高工相對強調學生可專精於各科專業領域上的實務操作與應用。

英文摘要

National Cheng Kung University was established in 1931 as Tainan Technical College (TTC), which was the first institute of engineering education in Taiwan. Regarding how the engineering knowledge be taught at the time, most previous studies have just dealt with the courses without detailed analysis of TTC’s curriculum planning. While looking at the course names in the planning programs, it reveals the colonial government’s intention of setting up TTC, i.e. to develop engineering industry in Taiwan. Because most previous studies do not go into detailed discussions of the course contents, it thus leaves a research vacuum. As the historical record shows, in the initiation period of school establishment, the education and culture official of Japanese colonial government Isiguro Hidehiko and chief of the school founding committee Ima Keihiko visited Hiroshima (HTC) and Kanazawa (KTC) Technical college for the reference of the proposed curriculum. This study shall compare curriculum planning of the three schools in the same period to show the similarities and differences of them. The research finds that the mechanical and electrical engineering courses of HTC were almost identified with those of TTC. Furthermore the relevant documents of HTC provide a relatively clear description of the subject contents, this serves as a reference to understand the course structure and content of TTC teaching program. The result of this study not only shows initiative curriculum planning of TTC, but also clarifies the nature of TTC’s some courses, which can be regarded as the subjects taught in response to the needs of Taiwan industrial development. Apart from that, the course structure renders the reference for the design of school building structure.
