由於5G的發展，雷射應用、光通訊相關產業也同步快速成長。2020年台灣雷射業產值約為442億台幣，相較2019年產值397億，年成長率為11％；而2020年台灣光通訊產值為996億台幣，相較2019年產值934億，年成長率約7％。

Due to the development of 5G, laser applications and optical communications related industries have also grown rapidly. The production value of Taiwan's laser industry in 2020 is about 44.2 billion Taiwan dollars, compared with the production value of 39.7 billion in 2019, the annual growth rate is 11%; and the production value of Taiwan's optical communications industry in 2020 is 99.6 billion Taiwan dollars, which is 93.4 billion in 2019, showing an annual growth of about 7%.
