宋代理學興起，在南宋理學諸學派中，有名艾軒學派者，由林光朝創立。林光朝經陸子正、尹焞、王蘋得伊川之學，後經林亦之、陳藻、林希逸傳續三代。艾軒學派作為儒家體系之「別為源流」有著獨具特色的思想理念，該學派主張心學踐履、重視文章辭命、包容釋道思想。艾軒學派承洛學之精髓，傳孔孟儒學於東南、授徒行義修飭，化士風民俗於鄉里、注解老莊經典，揚道學於海外，在當地的社會生活中與我國乃至東亞文化史上都產生了重要的影響。
