於臺灣中部高山上的腐朽木材上發現了一種黑色絲孢菌(dematiaceous hyphomycete)，嘗試培養菌株但未能成功。將此標本與來自德國境內的阿爾卑斯山上另一個標本進行比較後，兩個標本均鑑定為垂孢短蠕孢菌（Brachysporium pendulisporum），並對其進行了描述和說明。此分佈結果也顯示，此物種對溫帶棲息地的偏愛。由於日籍學者澤田兼吉(Kaneyoshi Sawada)於臺灣發表的其他八種Brachysporium之紀錄應為其它屬，因此本記錄成為該屬在臺灣的首次紀錄。

A dematiaceous hyphomycete was found on rotting wood in the high mountains of central Taiwan. Attempts of cultivation failed. The specimen was compared to another one from the German Alps. Both specimens were identified as Brachyspo-rium pendulisporum and described and illustrated. The distribution indicates a preference for temperate habitats. Since the other eight species recorded as Brachysporium for Taiwan by Sawada belong to other genera, the present record appears to be the first record also for the genus.
