Background and Aims: Potential effected of night shift work is well-known for its correlation with high risk of cardiovascular disease, obesity, and fatigue. The aim of this study was to make a analysis from the annual health check data (March, 2020) of the employees in a North-Taiwan semiconductor company, to evaluate the associations between night shift work and concerning effects on sleep duration and stress. Methods: A total 8286 workers from the semiconductor company were recruited,3957 workers were night-shift employees, and 4329 workers were non-shift employees. A structured self-administered questionnaire (Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, CBI) was employed to collect the participant’ stress effect. Main Outcome Measures: stress measuring personal burnout and work-related burnout from self-administered questionnaire(Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, CBI). Sleep duration was evaluated, as well. Results: For those who were more than 30 years old, the was no difference in stress between the night-shift employees and the non-shift employees; however, for those who were less than 30 years old, the night-shift workers have less stress. However, night shift worker had decreased hours of sleep. Conclusion: Night shift work were likely associated with decreased sleep duration; however, no stress differences were found between night-shift workers and non-shift workers. We recommend that all the companies pay highly attention to night-shift worker’s sleep quality, to maintain mental and physical health. These association need to be verified in prospective cohort studies.
