The regulation for certifying social workers was promulgated in 1997. After the professionalization and licensing of social work, social work seems to be an easy-to-recruit and promising industry, and the number of students in various universities continues to rise. However, many studies have shown that after entering the social work workplace, it is very hard for the new recruits to take social work as their life-time career. Is this industry's poor labor environment keep the new recruits from life time commitment, or are there problems in the educational system which makes students with suitable talents hard to be found? Therefore, it is very important to discuss how to evaluate the learning outcomes of social work students and discover the willingness to enter social work labor market after graduation. The data of this research came from the students of the social work department of a comprehensive university in Taiwan with a valid sample of 459. The results show as follows: 1. Two-thirds of the social work students reported as being “study hard” and “fond of social work”, and 80% of them are willing to become social workers after graduation. 2. Those who had received assistance from social workers in the past were more likely to become social workers after graduation. 3. The more the year in school, the lower the preference for social work as a career and the lower the possibility of becoming social workers in the future. 4. Those who value professional status and social image think more positively about social work. 5. It is the zest and passion make students committed to be social workers, not GPA. The results of this study can provide a suggestion for social work education reform.
