將心得報告整理後,使用定性分析確定主題,且依據《世界物理治療聯盟入門級物理治療專業教育指引》(World Confederation of Physical Therapy [WCPT] Guideline for Physical Therapist Professional Entry Level Education)專業行為框架的編碼來演繹分析。

Background and Purpose: Job shadowing is a learning method through observational experience. However, there has been no research on the effectiveness of this method applied to physical therapy education. Therefore, the purpose of this report was to apply job shadowing in physical therapy education and to explore what abilities students could learn. Methods: We recruited freshmen from Chang Gung University, School of Physical Therapy who were interested in this semi-curricular activity. The students spent half a day with the physical therapist to observe he or she conducting daily work and composed a freely-structured reflection after the job shadowing. A qualitative analysis was used to determine the themes, and we used World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) Guideline for Physical Therapist Professional Entry Level Education as codes. Results: Twelve students participated in this activity. The preliminary analysis showed that these students could learn the professional conducts through observation, and the most frequent codes were: (1) patient care and management—examination, evaluation and intervention, (2) communication—expressive and receptive communicating in a culturally competent manner with patients, (3) compassion/caring—being caring, patient and sincere with patients, (4) teamwork. Conclusions: This report showed that students could learn the professional abilities and conducts through job shadowing. These results will provide the preliminary basis for future research.
