本研究探討臺中市東勢區中嵙里守望相助隊高齡者的社會參與及活躍老化的狀況，採用質性半結構式訪談，訪談內容達到飽和狀態後進行逐字稿分析，依據逐宇稿分析的結果撰寫本論文。研究者訪談五位高齡並資深的隊員，探討參與守望相助隊是否強化了個人的社會參與以及讓老年生活更為活躍。本研究的問題有下列三點：一、守望相助隊成員在參加守望相助隊之前有什麼樣的社會參與?或者同時間他們的主要社會參與是什麼？二、基於怎麼樣的機緣讓這些農村社區居民參加了守望相助隊?什麼是讓他們可以留下來的原因？有何困境？及如何因應？三、守望相助隊是否強化了農村社區居民的社會參與和增進其活躍老化？研究結果證實，加入守望相助隊是俱備多方效益的的社會參與，有助於社區長者的活躍老化。守望相助隊對社區有很大助益，即使現階段守望組織運作仍面臨諸多問題與困境。

This study explores the social engament and active aging of the elderly in the Zhongke village (中嵙里) of Dongshi District (東勢區) in Taichung City. Those 5 elderly who are the member of Over Watch Team were interviewd. And this paper is written based on the results of analysis. The researcher is willing to explore, whether participation in a Overwatch Team strengthened individual social engament and made the elderly in the community more active. Purposes of this study as followd: 1. What kind of social engament did the members of the Overwatch team have before joining the team? Or what was their main social engament at the same time? 2. The reasons why did these rural community residents join the Overwatch Team? What were the reasons for them to stay? What were the difficultie ? And how did they respond to these? 3. Did joing the Oberwacht Team strengthen the social engemant of rural community elderly residents and promote their active aging? The results of the study confirm that joining a Overwatch team is a multi-benefit social engagement. That contributes to the active aging of community elders. The Overwatch Team is of great help to the community. Even at this stage, the operation of the Overwatch team still faces many problems and difficulties.
