Students’ performance in the visual arts programs at the level of tertiary institutes is found under serious influence of curricula that were characterized by in depth theories and cutting-edge practical activities. By examining three theoretical frameworks: Grounded Theory of Desire and Motivated Behaviour, Study Demands Resources Framework and Self Determination Theory. This qualitative study looked into the desire, demands and determination of the students in Nigeria and reported their challenges and limitations that led to uncertainties at present. Recommendations were also given as a part of conclusion.
