This article highlights arts education in a place-based pedagogy as a means to restore the ecological sense towards the surrounding environments, seeking to influence the thinking patterns of the locals. Taking the assumption that artistic creations can communicate an ecological consciousness to sustain a local culture, this article discussed pedagogical strategies derived from a case of an arts festival in Taiwan Yong-Ping High School that was characterized by the culture-based and place-based models with a view to arts integration across disciplinary borders as well as socially engaged arts education. The article concludes ns that art educators can encourage students to make ecologically art projects, nurture the consciousness of environmental sustainability, encourage participation in arts practice, and strengthen the human connection. Recommendations to ecological art education and artistic creations are also made in the end.
