Infodemiology is the study of information and epidemiology. It uses Internet data, such as searching behaviors, chats, number of comments, shares, and individuals’ logfiles to detect the early outbreak of a disease, find sources of misinformation, malinformation, and disinformation, and identify inequalities in the distribution of information. This paper summarizes Gunther Eysenbach’s views on infodemiology and its methodological framework. The author provides her views on how educators can prepare themselves for the age of infodemiology.
