奴隸制度是舊約書卷社會‒歷史背景的一部分，本文主旨在於使用「奴隸的隱喻」建構上帝與以色列人間的關係。本研究的中心論點是，舊約中「奴隸的隱喻」所描述的上帝，不同於舊約時期暴力的君主或是專橫暴虐的家主，為了迫使奴隸順從，進而以暴行懲罰家中的奴隸。反之，舊約聖經以此隱喻描述的上帝，如同父親般的家主，以他的慈愛和憐憫，嘗試說服家中的奴隸（兒子）行出對他們有益處的行為，以致恢復與家主融洽的關係。因此，舊約聖經藉此隱喻所呈現的圖畫，是為了促使以色列人民能從心底全然順服、歸向耶和華上帝。

This article aims to construct the relationship between God and Israel using the metaphor of slavery, as the system of slavery was part of the socio-historical context of the Old Testament books. The main point of this study is that the slavery imagery in the Old Testament does not depicts the Israelite God as a tyrant master like the masters in the ancient world, but as a father, who with his love and mercy tries to convince, rather than force, his son or slave (Israel) to do what is good for him.
