Digitaria eriantha cv. Transvala (Transvala) was originally from South Africa and was introduced to Okinawa, Japan after breeding improvements in USA. This cultivar became the most major grass with covering 28% of total grass cultivation area in Okinawa in 2019. The present reviews focused on various experiments conducted on Transvala, such as investigation of nutritional value and productivity, suitable harvest interval and amount of fertilizer for Transvala, silage quality, hay usage, grassland establishment way, and feeding effect for cattle. The nutritional value and the productivity of Transvala were the same as, or higher than other tropical grasses grown in Okinawa. Besides, Transvala grassland was able to establish in the several methods by planting cutting stalks or planting seedlings because of its vegetative reproduction. Silage quality of Transvala was good when it was produced properly because water soluble carbohydrate content in Transvala was higher than that of other grasses. In addition, Transvala hay was satisfactorily to use as the basal diet for daily cattle, Japanese Black calf, and Japanese Black breeding cows, instead of imported grass hay.
