Nowadays, students’ critical thinking is highly valued in art education. However, teaching intangible cultural heritage (ICH) remains an area under researched, despite it is believed that art education can develop students’ critical thinking, effectively improve students’ awareness of protecting intangible cultural heritage, enhance their cultural identity, and understand the connection between intangible cultural heritage and social culture. Simultaneously, from the perspective of cultural soft power, art education can fill the gap between theory and practice. The author takes an intangible cultural heritage course named “One Person of Nanyin Band Friends” as a case study. This case is characterized by its uniqueness among Lectures on Cultural Topics that are launched by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macau. This study also analyzes teaching strategies of critical thinking from the perspective of cultural soft power.
