The article is the first attempt to analyze the metaphors used in the text of the second inaugural address of Tsai Ing-wen from the cognitive and translation points of view. The purpose of the article is to identify and describe the metaphorical model, which most actively functions in the second inaugural speech of Tsai Ing-wen, as well as to analyze translation of metaphorical contexts from Chinese to Russian and English. As a result of this study, the author made conclusions about the role of the dominant metaphor (the path metaphor) in the solemn speech of Tsai Ing-wen, the features of translation of political metaphor and the prospects for studying Taiwanese politicians' public speeches.
