Spontaneous pneumomediastinum is a rare disease, but the prognosis of spontaneous pneumomediastinum is usually good. However, there may still be some fatal complications in spontaneous pneumomediastinum. The incidence of spontaneous pneumomediastinum may increase after COVID-19 infection. At present, there are many people infected with COVD-19 in Taiwan. Therefore, it is necessary to be vigilant when encountering patients who may have symptoms related to spontaneous pneumomediastinum. After supportive therapy, the patient recovered well. We report a 31-year-old male without any systemic disease. At the beginning, his chief complaint was suffering from mild left neck pain since 1 week ago. He also had feeling of air bubbles under the skin when touched the skin of the neck. He also suffered from mild left chest pain and tightness. Spontaneous pneumomediastinum was diagnosed by imaging chest X-ray and chest computed tomography. This article hopes to take advantage of this case report and review of the literature. In clinical practice, if patients who have been infected with COVID-19 have symptoms related to spontaneous pneumomediastinum, we should be more vigilant for early diagnose of spontaneous pneumomediastinum, early treatment and prevention.
