In the practice of adolescent psychotherapy, involuntary adolescents lack the willingness to participate in the group and the motivation to change, which affects the effectiveness of treatment. Therefore, this study aims to explore the phenomenon of resistance among involuntary adolescents in drama therapy groups, as well as the strategies and methods that practitioners use to cope with resistance. This study adopts a qualitative orientation to invite six practitioners and collects research data through semi-structured in-depth interviews. The data analysis was conducted with thematic analysis. The results show that the resistance phenomena of adolescents in the group are: (1) self-isolation, verbal provocation, and alienated response; (2) Boundary testing, superficial disclosure, and strengthen the formation of subgroups; (3) Avoiding negative emotions and amplifying positive experiences; (4) the needs to continue the relationship, the reappearance of lost experiences, and the disconnection of returning to life. The working strategies and methods that practitioners used included: (1) using games to activate the group atmosphere and represent psychological issues; (2) developing from self-characters to collective creations and storing scattered memories; (3) reenacting the reality on the stage trauma transforms life experience; (4) use drama rituals to integrate group experience and make self-expectations acts. Finally, the study synthesizes knowledge and methods of practice in involuntary adolescent drama therapy groups and makes recommendations for adolescent psychotherapy practice.
