英文摘要

Objective: This study aimed to explore the psychological impact of severe sports injuries on athletes and to understand the coping mechanisms they adopted to overcome the resulting trauma. Methods: Five participants who had suffered sports injuries were recruited, and data were collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using the whole content narrative analysis method. Results: Injured athletes commonly experience feelings of fright, self-blame, irritability, hopelessness, depression, loss, escapism, and a desire to give up. However, many eventually managed to overcome these feelings and returned to their sport after injury. Conclusion: Sports psychologists can use psychological skills, such as mindfulness training, imagery, and self-talk, along with social support, to help injured athletes recover as quickly as possible.
