本文旨在介紹英國皇家工程學院所研發之「大學教學職涯架構」(The Career Framework for University Teaching),此架構主要用以支持、評估和獎勵大學教師學術生涯各個階段的教學成就,可運用於教師專業發展、評鑑、聘任和升等過程,適用於所有涉及教學工作之職涯進路。本文首先介紹此架構之發展沿革,再說明此架構之內涵。此架構包含四個等級之「教學成就」,代表教師個人在高等教育機構、國家和全球層面對於教學與學習的貢獻和影響,每個等級的「教學成就」皆呈現教師之教學與學習活動的「影響範圍」、用以界定其教學成就之「升等指標」,以及建議採用之升等「佐證資料」。最後,再輔以運用此架構發展教師升等進路之國外大學實例,提供國內大學以此架構發展不同升等管道評估教學成就升等指標之參考。

英文摘要

This article introduces “The Career Framework for University Teaching” developed by the Royal Academy of Engineering. This framework is primarily used to support, evaluate, and reward university teachers’ teaching achievements at various stages of their academic career. It can be used to advance academic careers, including appointments, professional development, appraisals, and promotions. Furthermore, it is applicable to all academic roles and career paths involving teaching. First, the article introduces the development of the framework and explains its contents, including four levels of “teaching achievement,” denoting individual teachers’ contributions and impact on the quality of teaching and learning at an institutions of higher education, national and global level. Second, for each level of achievement, the framework addresses the “sphere of impact” of academics in their teaching and learning activities. Specifically, “promotion criteria” define their achievements in teaching and learning and “forms of evidence” can be used to demonstrate these achievements. Finally, the article illustrates methods with which foreign university uses the framework to provide a reference to develop promotion criteria for evaluating teaching achievement in multiple promotion tracks in Taiwan.
