對於威廉．高汀《蒼蠅王》的研究，臺灣學界普遍多從文學評論的角度出發，研究者也多以西洋語文的學術背景為主。本研究將《蒼蠅王》從社會科學領域帶入語藝學的研究典範，首先進行同類型文本的互文性和跨文本類型的互文性考察，接著進行兩階段的比喻批判分析，第一階段為人物性格隱喻，及其(人物系統間)內在關聯性的分析；第二階段為符碼象徵與故事情節分析。透過比喻批判的分析，本文最終指出：「黑暗之心才是極惡之源」。儘管人性中同時具有善良、理性、靈性(直覺)、邪惡本質，但具有能動性的人類，其自我的選擇才能完成最後的救贖。《蒼蠅王》也奠定了「生存競爭」、「善惡對立」與「人性的自我選擇」的「敘事類型」，再現於後續更多的烏托邦/反烏托邦的電影/小說文本當中。

The academia in Taiwan generally follows the angles of literary review on the studies of Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Those researchers are predominately from the academic backgrounds of western literature. This study intends to set off from the fields of social sciences while citing classic rhetorical studies of rhetoric. The author will begin by examining the intertextuality of texts of the same genre as well as the intertextuality of texts of different genres, followed by critical analysis of simile in two stages: Stage 1 analyzing the innate correlations between characters and the simile of character personalities; Stage II analyzing the codes, symbols and story plots. Through the critical analysis of simile, the study arrives at the conclusion, “In the darkness of the heart lies the source of evil.” Despite the kindness, reason, soulfulness (instinct) and wickedness that are simultaneously present in human nature, it is humanities with agency capacity that can complete the ultimate redemption via self-determination. Lord of the Flies has established the narrative genre of “competition for survival”, “good versus evil,” and “self-determination in human nature,” which is embodied in more of the subsequent utopia/dystopia texts in film/fiction.
